The Young Americans for Liberty chapter at the Antonin Scalia Law School hosted David Boaz, Executive Vice President of the Cato Institute, as a speaker on March 30. Mr. Boaz gave a talk called “The Libertarian Mind,” in which he discussed the roots and history of libertarian ideas, from antiquity to modernity, libertarianism’s broad appeal, and the increasing frequency of attacks on liberty from the left and right. A number of students and other liberty-minded individuals in the area came to the talk.
After his talk, Mr. Boaz fielded questions about the reasons for his optimism for the future of libertarianism, the nomination of Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court, and his views on individual rights.
On the whole, the event was a great success, and our chapter wishes to thank Mr. Boaz for coming to talk to us. We greatly appreciate it, and we are extremely grateful for the experience.
