Typhoon Haikui, the third typhoon to hit China in a week, made landfall in Hepu township, Xiangshan county early on Wednesday morning, with winds at around 68 miles per hour. It forced the evacuation of nearly 2 million people from their homes and businesses in Shanghai and surrounding areas. In one village over 160 local residents were stranded, where streets and houses were flooded. More than 30 thousand ships had to take shelter in port. The storm's epicentre was predicted to move northwest on Wednesday night. leaving wet and windy conditions in its wake. Shanghai's two airports cancelled over 500 domestic and international flights from Wednesday morning. China is still reeling from the effects of typhoons Damrey and Saola over the weekend, which killed 23 people, and left another nine missing.
