Kogelo is a small village in the western Kenyan port city of Kisumu. It's also US President Barack Obama's ancestral home, and a lot of changes have taken place there since he was elected to the highest office in the land four years ago. Obama's father was born there and some of his family members still live in the village. Samson Obama, Barack's half-brother, lives in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi, but he often returns to Kogelo to visit relatives. He talks about some of the significant changes he has witnessed. [Samson Obama, Barack Obama's Half-Brother]: “When he got the nomination in 2008 and eventually when you vote for the presidency and he was elected, we saw a big impact immediately after he got elected. The next day, electricity was installed.” In addition to being supplied with water and electricity, Kolego has also been developed by local authorities into a scenic spots, with some hotels, roads and even bridges being given Obama-related names. [Samson Obama, Barack Obama's Half-Brother]: “As you can see, this is the old bridge and they are building the new bridge. They are constructing the new bridge which is called Barack Obama Bridge, and they've decided to construct the new bridge because of the worse state of the old bridge. The reason being is the bridge when it rains, the old bridge gets completely flooded.
