Days after Sandy, residents in New York struggle with the gasoline shortage, causing tempers to rise in fuel stations. Full story: Frustration grew on Friday (November 2) over fuel shortages, for New York residents trying to return their lives to normal after Hurricane Sandy. The hurricane brought a record storm surge to coastal areas when it slammed into the US Northeast on Monday. In the lower portion of Manhattan empty gas stations were seen without customers, lights, or security personnel. But 20 blocks from one working station in Midtown, cars lined up to fill their almost empty tanks. [Ramon Gonzales, New Yorker]: “Now I'm here, in front of the pumps and now they're saying they're not giving any gas except for emergency vehicles. I have kids in my car, my wife is in there. I can't even move the car; it's empty. They want me to leave. Where am I supposed to go? Another eight hour line?” Gonzales had been waiting for three and a half hours and had an argument with a police officer. On the other hand, some managed to keep their cool amidst the long wait in the cold. [Michael, Perez, Construction Worker]: “Everybody's hot headed. Everybody's upset. Everybody has a family to get to, has money to make, has things to do. Everybody has a reason to be upset but, you know, some people are just lashing out more than others.
