The US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, calls for a major overhaul of Syria's opposition, asking to move beyond the Syrian National Council. Full Story: The United States called on Wednesday for a major overhaul of Syria's beleaguered opposition, saying it was time to move beyond the Syrian National Council (SNC). [Hillary Clinton, US Secretary of State]: “There needs to be an opposition leadership structure that is dedicated to representing and protecting all Syrians. It is not a secret that many inside Syria are worried about what comes next. They have no love lost for the Assad regime but they worry and rightly so about the future and so there needs to be an opposition that can speak to every segment and every geographic part of Syria.” Speaking at a news conference while meeting with the Croatian President Ivo Josipovic, Clinton also said, Syrian opposition talks in Qatar next week should lead to a broader coalition, that would speak out strongly against any extremists' efforts in hijacking the Syrian revolution.
