Sources: U.S. didn’t anticipate response to U.S. military display

WASHINGTON – The Obama administration may be working with China to come up with a face-saving solution that would allow North Korea’s young dictator to back down from the brink of war, where he has brought the Korean Peninsula and United States.

While the Obama administration believes North Korea is engaging mostly in bluster with its threats and warnings of war, sources close to the administration say that officials may have miscalculated Pyongyang’s reaction in the recent American demonstration of force – the flight from the continental U.S. of two stealth B-2 nuclear bombers.

The tensions started rising along with the implementation of United Nations sanctions recently. Then came the American show of force in an annual joint U.S.-South Korean military exercise.

The B-2 flights, especially because they can carry nuclear weaponry, immediately caused North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong-un, to claim that the United States intended through this exercise to launch a nuclear war on North Korea.

Analysts believe that the administration may be reevaluating its approach, and that a change in strategy would defuse the confrontation.

Such behind-the-scenes activities come as U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry is to make visits next week to Beijing, Seoul and Tokyo. Sources say that Kerry is opposed to any sanctions, or making existing sanctions even more stringent.

North Korea apparently reacted with bellicose rhetoric that caught the Obama administration off guard, sources say.

The sanctions against North Korea have earned wide approval – even from China, which is supposed to be the Hermit Kingdom’s closest friend. Sources say that this represented months of frustration by China trying to get North Korea to halt its missile and nuclear weapons testing.

  • Well…whatcha think Dennis Rodman was doing there…..

  • Its a lie. America has got nothing on North Korea. It is the most well prepared nation on earth in case of Nuclear war. remember, North Korea is the most tunneled most underground places on earth. It has over 500 KM of complex tunnel networks.

The underground bases are 10 miles deep blow, even if America uses all its 50,000 nuclear weapons, 70% of North Korea will be still alive as they all live under the ground as evident by the satellite photo in the night with no lights in North Korea.

Its the Americans who will be wiped out if a nuclear war happens, American cities are sitting ducks on the ground, while north korean cities are all under the ground.

  • Put the 2 idiots (Obummer and boyman kimmy) in a ring together and let them sort out their differences. It would me great TV story as well. Why do so many of our brave youths have to die for those idiots? Mankind will never ascend to the next level and break this quarantine in which we have been imprisoned and be accepted by the rest of existence. Peace should be of the utmost importance.

    • And Kerry’s a total shill anyway. It just annoys me that these stupid little boys (who want to show off that they’ve got the most shiny toys, and bluster around the playground with such bravado) can’t be left to their own devices to slug it out between them without involving the rest of the planet. Let them both go whimpering home to their respective non-US-national parents with bruised faces and missing teeth and whine about it, and leave the rest of us alone!

  • North Korea helps USA to keep armed forces in Japan and South Korea.

  • Somebody has to initiate WW3, or else it will never happen. I think we are watching the first shot’s of it being staged.

  • What are talking about? NK MISCALCULATED!!!
