I suppose it was only a matter of time before Twitter joined in the party of censoring conservatives. Bear in mind, it was just last year it was then CEO Marco Galperin who made the comment:

“COMPANIES LIKE GOOGLE AND FACEBOOK CAVE LIKE THIS ALL THE TIME, BUT THEY NEVER CALLED THEMSELVES THE FREE SPEECH WING OF THE FREE SPEECH PARTY. THIS IS WHAT TWITTER IS GOOD FOR. THIS IS WHAT TWITTER HAS BUILT ITS REPUTATION ON.”

[COUGH… BULL****… COUGH…]

Just yesterday I posted a piece titled 46 REPUBLICANS JUST VOTED TO ELIMINATE FREEDOM OF THE PRESS. We are entering SUCH dangerous times. Put aside the fact that the DOLLAR IS DEAD, OUR ALLIES ARE ABANDONING US, and recently EVEN THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA BEGAN COVERING OBAMA’S PLANS FOR MARTIAL LAW, what appeared to be the last standing way to reach the masses has succumbed to “liberal-itis.” First, I watched my FACEBOOK PAGE go from 0 to 30,000 almost over night. Since then, even an attempt to pay for growth did not work. Anyone who follows any conservative Facebook pages is all to familiar with the following post, but only if they’ve recently had some activity on the page, otherwise the page is likely hidden from their feed unknowingly.

It’s sickening. In my post titled TREASON IS TOO NICE A WORD, author David Risselada eludes to the notion that if Americans knew just HOW corrupt the American government is, they’d lose it. David says:

“We have to understand that we have the power to stop this. We have to stop letting them divide us and start finding some common ground. America, the consequences of what lies ahead of us will affect all of us the same.

NO ONE WILL BE SAFE! NO ONE!

This will not be about liberals and conservatives, anyone who disagrees with the powers that be, will be a target. We can’t stop this if we can’t stand together, which is why they work so hard to divide us.”

Now, it’s only a matter of time before the kettle that is slowly simmering is going to boil and spill over! For now, it’s conservatives that are the country’s punching bag, but it won’t be exclusive to conservatives forever. Will it be the COLLAPSED ECONOMY THAT TURNS US ON OURSELVES? Will it be a RACIAL WAR EGGED ON BY OBAMA AND ALL HIS RHETORIC?

Two things are abundantly clear: The first, is that government exists for one purpose: to serve itself at the public’s expense. For that very reason, for their own safety, at some point the liberals in government will eventually turn on those they’ve USED for all these years. If the GOP does not win THIS coming Presidential election, there will NEVER be another Republican President. Compromise will end. Sure, we’ll have Republicans in Congress, but for all intents and purposes, the country will become A ONE-PARTY SYSTEM.

If only the right person came along who could convince liberals they have been no more than a means to an end for liberal politicians, we might have SOME chance at putting this country back together. That is largely WHY I SUPPORT BEN CARSON FOR PRESIDENT. His work as a healer of men has been well documented. It is my sincere belief, that regardless of his “political experience,” if surrounded by the right people, Ben Carson will be best remembered as the healer of a nation. That remains to be seen.

The second thing that is abundantly clear, is free speech is, and has been, under full on assault by government, which I document in the links after the article. Right now, there are so many ticking time-bombs waiting to go off that people are unaware of. With Twitter jumping into bed with the party of censorship, I pray we have not gone past the point of no return.

WND REPORTS:

Twitter – the social media company that was just in the news for a shares’ loss of nearly 20 percent – is now under fire for perceived censorship of conservative viewpoints.

Noted conservative author and commentator Michelle Malkin picked up a thread that was making rounds on the social media site, writing in a tweet of her own: “Conservative Twitter users raising troubling questions whether @Twitter’s new ‘quality filter’ is censoring based on ideology.”

The remark was retweeted and favorited a combined 1,000-plus times. And among commenters was this one, from Milo Yiannopoulos: “It is.”

Another wrote: “I’m not even remotely surprised.”

The “quality filter” Malkin referenced came from the company’s announced new policy, as reported by Tech Crunch: “Quality filtering aims to remove all Tweets from your notifications timeline that contain threats, offensive or abusive language, duplicate content or are sent from suspicious accounts.”

But that policy is being applied in a seemingly biased manner, Malkin suggested, after her Twitter feed picked up a story of a suspended user, Doug Ernst, who writes for the Washington Times.

Ernst writes on his blog, under the heading of “Twitter: Death threats get a pass, but users who question that decision will be suspended,” in a recent post:  “Twitter CEO Dick Costolo said earlier this year he was “ashamed” and “embarrassed” at how the company deals with bullying. Apparently they haven’t made much progress, because these days Twitter allows death threats to slide. Worse, if you’ve been the target of a death threat and you question how on earth the user responsible can get away with it, then Twitter Support will ban you. I know from first-hand experience.”

Ernst recounts how he posted on Twitter a link to a Washington Times story he wrote, and soon after received a tweet from a follower, Derrick Tapscott, saying: “@WashTimes @douglasernst WE WILL FIND YOU & KILL YOU #DEATHTOAMERICA.”

Ernst questioned Twitter about the email and received a generic response, also posted on his blog.

“We were unable to take action on the account given that we could not determine a clear violation of the Twitter rules,” part of the response reads.

Shortly after, Ernst posted his outrage on Twitter: “Some guy says he’s going to hunt me down and kill me, yet @twitter ‘could not determine a clear violation’ of its rules. Unreal …”

In a phone conversation, Ernst said it was “literally seconds” after he posted that tweet that Twitter suspended his account. That was April 6 and since, he’s been involved in a lengthy campaign with Twitter officials to have his suspension lifted, or at the least, to receive an explanation why his account was suspended, but not the one belonging to the poster who made the death threat. He’s written Twitter at least three times to seek clarification, but to no avail.

He’s also enlisted and received the help of others with social media savvy to press Twitter for the same information, and account re-activation.

In an email to WND, Ernst said: “If Twitter is willing to blatantly ignore a writer for a well-known newspaper like The Washington Times, how does the company respond to Joe and Jane American who might not have social media managers and others working on their behalf? … It seems like the lesson Twitter is trying to send with this suspension and its behavior is ‘Don’t you dare expose the man behind the curtain, or you will pay.’”

Ernst hasn’t concluded Twitter suspended his account due to his conservative background, which includes employment at the Heritage Foundation. But others are seeing partisan censorship at play – and the concerns have reached the point where even Malkin stepped into the fray and kicked off a Twitter campaign to similarly wonder.

Ernst also said, via email: “Twitter gets to put out press statements on how it’s working to mitigate online bullying or terror threats, but when someone with a decent-sized megaphone calls the company out on its woeful performance, then he must be silenced. The past three weeks have felt like something out of a Twilight Zone episode.”

Twitter, meanwhile, has just taken a hit of another kind – financially.

CNBC reported on a leaked earnings report just this week that indicated the company’s shares fell 18 percent based on disappointing first quarter earnings. The company’s adjusted earnings for the quarter were 7 cents per share on $436 million in revenues.

THE WEEK REPORTS:

Conservative Twitter users unleashed their fury Sunday night, after the social networking giant suspended the account of Chris Loesch, the husband of right-wing Breitbart.com and CNN pundit Dana Loesch. His account was disabled following a heated exchanged with some liberal Twitter users — proof, he believes, of left-leaning Tweeps gaming the site’s policies to censor conservatives. Does his theory hold water? Here, a brief guide:

What started this Twitter spat?

Chris Loesch and his wife were engaging in a war of words with several antagonistic Twitter users on Sunday night after an alarming, vile tweet was directed at Dana. (The tweet, from a little-known freelancer, read, “@dloesch is one of the few women on this planet that if I learned she’d been brutally raped and murdered I wouldn’t shed a tear.”) Soon after the exchange, Chris Loesch was suspended. Fellow conservatives like Ben Howe, Jerome Hudson, and Michelle Malkin promptly began sending tweets with the “#FreeChrisLoesch” hashtag. Soon, the hashtag was among the top 10 trending topics in the U.S. His account was re-instated on Monday afternoon, according to BuzzFeed.

Why was Loesch suspended?

Many conservatives believe that liberals, fed up with being called out for their bullying, banded together to report Loesch’s Twitter account as spam, says Ed Morrissey at Hot Air.Twitter has a self-policing “Block & Report Spam” function, which suspends accounts that receive complaints from other users. Loesch claims to have “stumbled upon a few tweets between the liberals I was debating” that discussed their plan to have him blocked. “This is clearly a tactic being used by the Left, and Twitter is either ignorant or allowing it to occur.”

Could that really have happened?

Loesch’s is a dubious theory, conservative columnist Brady Cremeens says. Why would liberal Twitter users target him instead of his wife, who has a much higher public profile by virtue of her position on CNN?

Regardless, this isn’t the first accusation of social media’s politicization. Last week, conservatives complained when Free Market America’s Twitter account was briefly suspended, while a Facebook user who routinely posts to pro-Democratic Facebook pages claims that conservative users had him banned from the site by flagging his left-leaning posts as spam.

Why is this a big deal?

If Twitter really does use an algorithm that allows “user accounts to be reactively suspended according to malicious whims,” says Anneke E. Green at The Washington Times, “that’s a threat to free speech for everyone — regardless of individual political views.” Sites like Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube are increasingly vital parts of the national political conversation and “possess the power to determine what political speech is and is not acceptable for their huge audiences,” says BuzzFeed. It may be time to investigate how fairly and transparently they “wield their clout.”
