Obama will deliver a rare televised address to the nation from the Oval
Office on Sunday, in response to the recent terrorist attacks in Paris
and in San Bernardino, California.
This is the first sign that
the Obama White House is preparing to address the threat of terrorism
seriously after appearing reluctant to define the attack in California
as terrorism
Obama has only delivered two other televised Oval
Office addresses during his presidency. In June 2010, he delivered a
speech detailing the national response to the Gulf of Mexico oil spill
in response to weeks of negative press coverage of his handling of the
situation. In August 2010, he delivered an address to signal the end of
U.S. combat operations in Iraq.
