(Before It's News)

According to a report from TmoNews, six Android devices are nearing their end-of-life status. Assuming there’s any truth to this internal screengrab posted by David, we’ll be saying goodbye to T-Mobile’s two top-tier HTC Android phones, the Amaze 4G and the myTouch 4G Slide. Additionally coming to the end of their run, the HTC Sensation 4G, the LG Doubleplay, LG myTouch and LG myTouch Q are all getting the axe as well. Of course, it’s up to you if you invest anything into that screengrab or not, but as a long-time Magenta customer and TmoNews reader, I have no reason to believe anything otherwise.

Does this surprise me? Well, not really. Every one of those devices with the myTouch moniker never had a fighting chance at being a real contender. I own a HTC myTouch 4G and in my opinion, the series started to go downhill from there. I’d be interested to see how many of our readers actually own any of those devices — except the HTC Amaze 4G that is, of course. That one did take me a little by surprise. It doesn’t seem like it was all that long ago when the phone hit the market and it still competes with the likes of the best new phones out there.

As David mentioned, this doesn’t mean the phones will just disappear from retail shelves. There are still units in stores and warehouses that will need to be moved before the official funeral can be held. I’d imagine T-Mobile will have some ridiculously low sales and good deals to pawn the devices off and clean house to make room for the 2012 lineup.

Of course, we’ve heard very little in terms of new devices from T-Mobile. We’re definitely hoping there are some truth to the rumors that the HTC Ville will land in our laps, but there hasn’t been anything announced to solidify those rumors just yet. I’m still holding on to hope that we might get a Samsung Galaxy Nexus myself, in which case count me in for sure. I’ve considered paying my early termination fee to jump ship for Verizon and I’ve even thought about just sticking it out in hopes we might get a pure AOSP Ice Cream Sandwich phone, but I’m not holding my breath on that one happening any time soon.

For now, we’ll have to wait and see what T-Mo’s Spring cleaning will make way for. I just hope that it’s good enough to keep me around because I’ve enjoyed their service for many years now and would hate to have to switch carriers to feed my Android addiction. After all, we did have the first Android phone ever — woot woot G1!
