Research In Motion (RIM) appears to be gearing up to ensure its latest attempt at regaining market share is a success from the very beginning. After a considerably long gap, BlackBerry smartphones are going to receive Software & Hardware overhaul in the form of BlackBerry OS 10 or OSX as it is fondly known. RIM has been openly proclaiming that this iteration is by far the best they have come up with. Built along the current trend of full-touch devices, the OS has several under-the-hood tweaks & cosmetic improvements.
To ensure their efforts & reputation are upheld RIM is offering meticulously developed ‘Incentives Program’ to convince corporations and government users to stick with its secure smartphones. Before the upcoming launch on 30th January 2013, RIM is offering online training & webcasts.
Additionally, the company will also dole out free trade-ups of licenses & services. Overall, the company has a compact, yet comprehensive ‘BlackBerry 10 Ready’ Program. Interestingly, this program is currently restricted only to large Government departments & organizations who have a blanket Blackberry coverage.
BlackBerry has been facing a steady onslaught of rival companies especially Apple’s iOS running iPhones. Owing to some security & blackout issues, BlackBerry smartphones have had to endure public outcry & Government red-tape. This in turn made many lose faith in once-strong enterprise oriented smartphone manufacturer. The biggest blow perhaps could be the loosing of No. 1 status in own home country.
At one point of time RIM was even thinking of licensing out its latest OS to other companies. Thankfully, that phase seems to have passed as the company is showing signs of fighting spirit once more. Though the devices running BB OS 10 are undoubtedly superior in all aspects to their predecessors, the real question to ask is; Whether people & organizations will be willing to stay faithful?
