Big Data analytics start-up Germin8 has secured funding worth $3M from Kalaari Capital. The funding will be used by Germin8 to strengthen its position in India through increased sales and marketing and fuel its foray into international markets. A significant portion of the funds will also be deployed for R&D and new product development.
Germin8 was founded in 2007 by father-son duo, Raj Nair and Ranjit Nair. The Mumbai based company builds products that enable organizations to make better decisions based on insights drawn from analysing unstructured data. Its proprietary stakeholder analytics platform takes stakeholder conversations from both public and private sources like social media, news, emails and chats, analyses them using proprietary text mining algorithms and presents them on live interactive dashboards.
Its technology platform Explici8 launched in 2012 is used by brands such as MTV, Marico, ICICI Prudential, Godrej Industries, Johnson & Johnson and Asian Paints. Germin8’s technology is also being used by media and advertising agencies including GroupM, Publicis, Dentsu Aegis, etc. Yesterday, similar data analysis start-up Indix secured $8.5M from Avon Ventures and Nexus Venture Partners.
