Bill Barker patented the so-called Alien Schwa as the central image of his Schwa Universe.
According to wiki, Barker was looking for an image to define his style when he was given a copy of The Secret Government, a book detailing a so-called Alien presence in World politics and social programming.

The IPA is the international body tasked with the organization and encoding of the phonology of Latin script.
The schwa, seen below, appears at the precise center of the IPA's vowel pronunciation chart, representative of the precise middle range of Latin based vowel sounds.
The IPA assigns a coded file number to each and every phonetic symbol. The number assigned to the schwa is 322.
Natch.
The legendary mondo-language theorist, conspiracy researcher and former Member of Canadian Parliament Glen Kealy (intimating the same model as Carpenter's They Live) calls the Alien presence INTRAterrestrial rather than EXTRAterrestrial.
It may be a small stretch, but I think the position of the schwa at the middle of the vowel pronunciation table hints inferred Alien Presence exists, at least in part, deep under the Earth or as one might say, The Middle EARth.
