(Before It's News)

We posted on our Facebook page:

Paul Marshall posted below: “I’m not sure if this has ever been question asked here, but has anyone tried to make activated charcoal? Are used up water filters (like Britta) good to ingest to absorb poison in the stomach?”
Some comments we received:

Comment #1:  Charcoal isn’t just absorbing toxins, it also ADsorbs- the junk sticks to the outside. So using a used filter is exposing you to whatever junk was originally absorbed/adsorbed by the filter.

Comment #2:  NEVER use “spent” activated charcoal for anything…..It can ONLY be decontaminated and reactivated in a thermal infrared oven. YES Charcoal will ADSORB toxins in the Human Bady. also effective at drawing poison fron insect and snake bites…To ‘MAKE YOUR OWN”. Start a hardwood fire let it get all the wood on fire and drop a wet cover over the flames…OR build the fire in a container and put a Lid on it to smother the flames…After the Coals COOL… grind them and use accordingly…

Comment #3:  I would say leave the “Brita” alone and go to the EMS store and buy some bottles of premaid activated charcoal if your worried about an overdose or poisoning. Cow’s stomach have way more chambers and filters in them that we do. The stuffis nasty either way, just avoid being poisoned.

Comment #4:  I went to my Pharmacist and asked to buy some Activated Charcoal several months ago. They had to order it. I keep it here just in case of an accident now.
