Humanitarian agencies are unable to deliver aid to earthquake victims due to India-Nepal border blockade since 45 days. Food and other necessities have not been supplied to survivors of Nepal earthquake victims.

Blockades along the border between Nepal and India have caused fuel shortages. Helicopters operating for the World Food Programme have also been grounded.

Hospitals have mentioned that they are critically low on drugs used in the emergency, ICU and operation theater. Many hospitals are expected to run out of medical supplies within a week.

At Raxaul checkpoint, more than 300 trucks carrying medicine have been waiting to enter Nepal for weeks.  The Nepal Red Cross Society has already mentioned that it is running out of empty blood packets.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has expressed concerns over the obstruction of essential supplies on the Nepal-India border. The Nepali government has appealed the international community to help settle the situation and underlined Nepal’s right of free transit, as a landlocked nation as well as for humanitarian reasons.

The India-Nepal border blockade started during the third week of September when Nepal's parliament passed a new constitution.
