Like a knife through butter, Second Amendment and Donald Trump supporter Angelo Bonsignore of Brooklyn cut through the clamor of an anti-Trump protest in New York City with a few words protesters didn’t want to hear
“Learn how to shoot firearms!” Bonsignore, a member of the New York City Shooters’ Club, as he waded through the crowd Friday outside New York City’s Plaza Hotel.
“ISIS is here,” he warned the crowd, as he sported a “Make America Great Again” cap and carried a signboard telling anyone interested where they could go to learn how to shoot. “Learn how to protect yourselves.”
Bonsignore was hardly welcomed with open arms. As a videographer from TheBlaze was interviewing him, a protester interrupted to accuse the journalist of talking to “some racist dog.”
“I’m not a racist,” Bonsignore flung back at the protester. “I love black people.”
Video captures the dialogue between TheBlaze journalist Josiah Ryan and the protester.
“What makes you say he’s a racist?” Ryan asked.
“He’s here supporting Trump!” the woman replied. “Trump is a racist!”
“Do you think everyone who supports Trump is a racist?” Ryan said.
“Absolutely,” she replied.
Bonsignore also took heat from a protest leader. When his way was temporarily blocked, he accomplished his mission by throwing cards to the crowd with information about enrolling in classes to learn to shoot.
Asked about the antagonistic reception he received, Bonsignore replied with a New York City shrug and a Trump-like response.
“I’m tougher than everybody,” he said.
Protests outside The Plaza were mirrored by those inside the hotel. However, all the protests in the world are not swaying Trump supporter Marc Scarinji, a Pennsylvania Republican.
“He’s the best candidate and the best man to make America great again,” said Scarinji told the New York Daily News.
