They are unrepentant. The scales of justice must be balanced. It is up to the victims and their families to give mercy should they so opt. It is merciless to take away justice from them.
In some cases, the life of the victim is taken.
And yet, none are qualified even in carrying out the law. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone said Jesus to those that would kill the adulteress caught in the act per Moses’ law.

For judgment is without mercy to one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
Where does that leave us?
Crying out to God day and night for justice.
Luke 18
7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?
8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?
Each verdict needs to be sought with prayer, considering both justice and mercy.
Micah 6:8
