Watching Donald Trump commit Trumpicide is very entertaining – albeit disgustingly embarrassing – and scary. He is his own Jersey Shore.
But enough of the comedic portion of this post.
Watching and hearing Trump’s inflammatory utterances such as “Hey, I watched when the World Trade Center came tumbling down. And I watched in Jersey City, New Jersey, where thousands and thousands of people were cheering as that building was coming down. Thousands of people were cheering.”
And: “There were people that were cheering on the other side of New Jersey, where you have large Arab populations. They were cheering as the World Trade Center came down. I know it might be not politically correct for you to talk about it, but there were people cheering as that building came down — as those buildings came down. And that tells you something. It was well covered at the time, George. Now, I know they don’t like to talk about it, but it was well covered at the time. There were people over in New Jersey that were watching it, a heavy Arab population, that were cheering as the buildings came down. Not good.”
And: “When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people. What can be simpler or more accurately stated? The Mexican Government is forcing their most unwanted people into the United States. They are, in many cases, criminals, drug dealers, rapists, etc.”
I sense here a man whose only goal is to see his name in print, see his face on television and have people talk about him – but who understands that the job of President of The United States is way above his however stratospheric and obscene pay-grade. Hence he is, by his outlandish utterances and positions, insuring that he will not have to face all the attendant problems that the job of President entails.
He is committing Trumpicide before our very eyes even as, to his great delight, he becomes the most talked about person in this country…which is, to my mind, all he actually desires. If he ever was, by some crazy miracle, elected President of this country I think he would have a stroke.
Also, by acting out this charade this is a man who, it seems, can, and will, almost single-handedly bring himself down and with him the entire Republican Party. One can only hope. Of course, he does have Cruz, Cantor, Yoho, Palin and Gohmert, among many others, to assist him. Or, failing that – along with assuring himself that he will not be the candidate – he will by his actions at least get the saner minds in the GOP, however few, to do something to bring back some semblance of reality to this now beleaguered political party.
I will wait on this last with bated breath.
