Microsoft’s digital voice assistant, Cortana is now available for Android users in selected regions. The leading tech-giant recently announced the Public Beta version of its impeccable voice assistant for devices running Android operating system. It can be downloaded officially via Google Play Store in US, and is also available for side load in other countries.
In May, Microsoft announced that it will bring Cortana to rival platforms, iOS and Androi. But, within a matter of days, the private beta version of the app got leaked, and gave an early peek to Android users. Well now, the public Beta version is finally here, and it looks almost identical to its Windows Phone counterpart. The interface and functionalities of the app are same, and with availability on all platforms, will certainly give competition to Siri and Google Now.
In terms of performance, Cortana has been simply terrific. It can take notes, add reminders, and inform about traffic and weather updates. In fact, it can also assist you on Microsoft’s latest desktop operating system, Windows 10. If you’re using Windows 10, Cortana for Android will serve as a companion app, and will sync email, notes, and other elements from your computer on your Android smartphone.
The release of public Beta of Cortana for Android has given a clear sign that Microsoft is planning to take on rival platforms with its powerful digital assistant. The company targets to win new customers by giving a blink of its own digital assistant on leading mobile operating platforms. The final release of Cortana for Android is likely to come in next few weeks. The app will also hit iOS devices, but because of closed nature of iOS, it will be difficult for Microsoft to make Cortana stand out against Apple’s Siri.
Apart from US, users in India as well as other regions can try the public beta of this app by side loading from a third party app store. By visiting www.apkmirror.com, you can download apk for this app, and install it manually by disabling security options. Microsoft made sure that support for Cortana in India will be extending by the end of this year, but until then, side loading is the best way to get a taste of company’s powerful digital Assistant.
