With advancing technology, performance of smartphones has also improved to a whole new level. Few years back, smartphone makers used to feature 256/512MB RAM with their phones, but now, with 64-bit chipsets from Qualcomm, Intel, and MediaTek, the same companies are offering top-grade handsets with up to 4GB of RAM. The world of technology is diversifying day-by-day, and looks like, we might soon have some powerful handsets with RAM capabilities up to 5GB. Although smartphone manufacturers have the required technology to pair 5GB of RAM, not all of them are in a hurry to move towards the next level.
Leading players like HTC, Samsung, LG, and Sony are speculated to bring some major hardware upgrades with their next flagships. But, in terms of RAM, only few devices look good enough to boast something as high as 5 gigs. No smartphone manufacturer has given a green signal, but the rumor mill suggests these 5 phones as the first ones to feature 5GB of RAM on-board.
According to rumors, the successor of LG G4 will be one of the first smartphones to feature 5GB of RAM. Speculated as LG G5, the upcoming smartphone is likely to sport a 5.6-inch Quad HD screen, powered by the top-tier Snapdragon chip. It will be running Android 6.0 Marshmallow right out-of-the box, and is expected to feature upgraded camera capabilities with a 20MP rear and 5.1MP front-facing shooter. It will feature an improved design language for sure, and is expected to show-up in April 2016.
While Xiaomi Mi5 is still under the wraps, users are speculating company’s 2016 flagship, Mi6 to pack 5GB of Super-fast LPDDR4 RAM. Just like LG G4, there is no clue about the official launch or existence of this phone. But, in terms of specs, the powerful beast is said to feature real power with its 5.2-inch 4k display, upgraded Snapdragon processor, and a 23MP rear and 7MP front-facing snapper. It might also feature an improved design language with metal and glass elements.
Along with this Mi6, the highly anticipated Asus ZenFone 3 is also expected to bring a major RAM upgrade. According to rumors, the upgraded ZenFone will boast extreme power with 5GB of LPDDR4 RAM, and will feature a sharp 5.5-inch full-HD display, upgraded Intel processor, and a 16MP rear and 5MP front-facing shooter. There handset will feature a new look, and will be unveiled at same time when ZenFone 2 was unveiled, in March or April 2016.
The 2016 flagship from HTC is also expected to show up with 5GB of RAM. According to rumors, the speculated successor of One M9 will be boasting an improved set of features with a crafty design language. The rumored device is expected to pack a 5.5-inch Quad-HD screen, upgraded Snapdragon processor, and an improved camera setup with a 27-megapixel rear and a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter. Its price or existence is still unconfirmed, but will be a major competitor for Samsung’s next high-end phone.
Just like HTC, leading tech-giant, Samsung is also expected to feature 5GB RAM with its next high-end phone. The company recently launched Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge+ with 4GB RAM, and might prefer to move one step ahead by featuring 5GB RAM next year with Galaxy S7. The upcoming Galaxy S7 is rumored to feature a bigger Quad-HD display, an upgraded Exynos processor, and a powerful camera setup with a 20MP rear and 8MP front-facing shooter. It will be running Android 6.0 Marshmallow right-out-of-the box, and will bring some major design upgrades over Galaxy S6 and its dual-edge variant. The official announcement of this phone might come by the end of first quarter of 2016.
So, these are the phones that can show up with 5GB of RAM. Although there is no confirmation, all these manufacturers look strong enough to enhance their smartphone range with improved RAM and hardware capabilities. Smartphone industry already features a massive range of phones, and by the end of first quarter of 2016, we’ll surely have some incredible phones packing upgraded hardware and software elements.
Since we all shop for top-grade performance, phones with 5GB RAM will be the biggest highlight of smartphones market in 2016. From gaming to multi-tasking, every process will be simplified with improved hardware capabilities. But right now, it all looks pretty shady ahead. The range of phones with 4GB RAM has just began to expand, and we’re still 7-8 months behind before the first-ever phone with 5GB RAM comes up. Any smartphone maker can take the leap, but as of now, you’ll have to keep some patience to get your hands on one of the most powerful phone in high-end arena.
