DEBKAfile was founded by a team of journalists in June 2000 as an independent Internet Web site, providing an intelligence and security news service. April 10, 2017, 5:09 PM (IDT)
US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson attended his first meeting of the Group of Seven (G7) industrialized nations in the Italian town of Lucca Monday. The group scheduled a special session for Tuesday, April 11 to discuss the Syria crisis, to be attended along with the seven members by the foreign ministers of Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Qatar. From Lucca, Tillerson is scheduled to travel to Moscow for a tough meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, after Russia and Iran set up a joint command center in Syria against the United States. The G7 consists of the United States, Japan, Germany, Britain, Italy, France, and Canada. Russia was part of the G8, but it was ejected in 2014 after its annexation of Ukraine's Crimea region.
Our unique angle on these subjects – and strong intelligence dimension – has earned DEBKAfile a global reputation and a steady readership – which skyrockets in times of crisis.
