US Defense Secretary James Mattis said Monday that the missile strike in response to the Syrian chemical attack on civilians “resulted in the damage or destruction of fuel and ammunition sites, air defense capabilities and 20% of Syria's operational aircraft”. Syria would be “ill-advised ever again to use chemical weapons,” he said. “At this point the use of the Shayrat runway is of idle military interest.”
