(Before It's News)

“I mean, do we need every single experience in a person’s life to be written in stone and blood and verifiable?” – Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz

On Friday, DNC Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) 10% was on with Andrea Mitchell on MSNBC, and simply couldn’t stand the fact that someone fact-checked Hillary’s bogus “I tried to join the Marines” story that she keep trotting out to both burnish her own character and tarnish the Marine Corps as sexist.

When Mitchell challenged the story as simply not making sense, Schultz was indignant at the audacity. I mean, after all, this is MSNBC. It’s supposed to be electing Hillary, not asking if she’s a liar. Watch:

“With all due respect, Andrea, why on earth are we talking about this?” says the indignant DNC chair. Isn’t that an awesome answer? Why are we talking about some old story from the past? That’s awesome. Nobody ever does that to Republicans you know. Brings up stuff from a long time ago. Nope. This is novel. New. It’s a new and exciting frontier in campaign season news.

Andrea Mitchell, who definitely has to explain herself to the Democrats, replies “Because she brought it up in New Hampshire the other day. If she hadn’t brought it up, it would not be an issue in this campaign.” It’s almost like the MSNBC host is saying that journalists have some license to look into the words of Democrats and find out if they are true. We are breaking all kinds of ground here people.

Newsbusters also has a transcript.

Here is Schultz’s argument:

Andrea, Andrea, what the story illustrated was that we have made a lot of progress in America. Secretary Clinton is absolutely right. I mean, back then, you did have a much tougher time for women to be able to make it successfully through the recruitment process and move up in the military and we’ve made tremendous progress since then.”

To which Mitchell replies:

I mean, with all due respect, I won’t defer to anyone in terms of people who have done stories over the decades about the challenges of women in the military … So I don’t think that’s the point. I think the point is just, did this happen? You have a presidential candidate, the frontrunner in the Democratic Party, saying something happened which is quite strikingly dissonant to people who knew her back then.

And then we have the money.

Do we need every single experience in a person’s life to be written in stone and blood and verifiable? There are things that happen to people all across America that can’t be verified. And I know your next question’s going to be about Ben Carson. And I think quite frankly, the same goes for stories about Ben Carson.

You know, the words “bwa ha ha ha ha” are thrown around a lot these days …

Seriously. This is what TV is for. And what blogs are for. And as for Hillary, I have some advice. The saying is “Go tell it to the Marines.” It is not “Go tell made up stories ABOUT the Marines.” This tall tale isn’t for you. You’re too old, you can’t see, and you’re a crazy person.
