iPhone 5 Sale In India Begins Today; Are You Going To Get One?
As far as phone hype goes, no product can match that of the iPhone. Samsung’s wildly successful Galaxy S III had everyone talking about it when it was launched, but the interest that has been shown by both the media and by the public for the iPhone 5 was simply phenomenal. Every blog, publication, large or small, was telling its readers every detail about it. From the size of the charging connector to the placement of the headphone jack, every detail was dissected. The device opened for sale in USA a few weeks ago and was met with record Sales. Now, you can get in on the iPhone 5 craze in India too.
Since the last few weeks, we have been hearing many rumours of the India launch. One overzealous blog actually went ahead and declared that they had exclusive news that the iPhone 5 was launching in India on October 26th. However this turned out to be inaccurate and all signs began to point toward a November 2nd launch. Before this, all other iPhones were launched with a network like Airtel or Aircel in India. This time, however, they are following a multi-pronged approach. It will be launched by Airtel, Aircel and directly from Apple India themselves.
Apple adopted a system of purchase tickets by which people could pre-book their iPhones. Below is the ticket that consumers were asked to buy in advance to collect their iPhone 5′s on launch day. This is for the base 16GB model.
The price of the iPhone 5 will be around Rs. 44,500 for the base 16GB variant. Further, one can buy it from e-commerce portals like Saholic and Infibeam.
It goes without saying that this phone isn’t the best value proposition. However, if you are going in for a new iPhone on launch day, it is safe to say you aren’t looking at Value For Money. Competing devices by other manufacturers will be almost 50% cheaper. However, they do not carry the status symbol that the iPhone 5 has in the eyes of people.
