Popular note taking and productivity app Evernote has announced that they might be setting up an office in India soon. This office is supposed to be in Noida. The app started as a note taking and archiving app which now expanded to notes using various mediums. It integrates with other apps on most of the mobile platforms and thus helps you save pieces of information onto a digital notebook. The app is also present on the desktop web by virtue of having a Chrome extension and a web app. Many people swear by Evernote because of the way it helps them to arrange their life properly.
The cross-platform app has been seeing some good traction in India and Troy Malone, GM for the Asia-Pacific operations says they have 700,000 Evernote users in the country, a figure which is growing by roughly 1600 people a day. The company will focus now on growing their business and partnering with various telecom and handset manufacturing companies so that Evernote becomes a default app on those phones. Another reason to open up an office in India would be to give better customer support to a growing number of users. The company is also looking at selling its business product called Evernote Business to SME as well as bigger enterprises.
Evernote is sold under a freemium model of pricing. The basic app is free and is limited to certain features and data consumption limit whereas the pro (paid) version comes with all the features and provides better support. It is priced at $5 a month of $45 per year. The Business suite costs $10 per user per month. The service seems pretty reasonable in terms of its pricing and it remains to be seen if the prices will be adjusted to suit Indian users.
