Downed Power Lines Trap Kids on School Bus; Stretched Utility Crews Will Take a While To Rescue Them [Picture]

  • Monsoon-like rains in Southern Indiana and Western Kentucky have saturated
  • soils, uprooted trees, downed power lines and overloaded transformers
  • and power substations.  Downed powerlines trapped dozens of srtudents
  • on a schcool bus.  As of this writing, emergency responders and utility
  • crews are on the way to rescue the children. Some of those first
  • responders have had to be rescued from flooded roads, as downed trees

trap floodwaters and roads become impassible.. 

Trees are on fire, after falling on poweer linea and power crews are stretched.  No sooner than they get one problem repaired, another crops up.  A massive power outage is being reported early this morning and residentes are wondering what else can go wrong when highways are flooded, trees are killing powerlines and emergency responders are gettng  trapped and are asking for assistance on flooded roads..

Storms from Washington State to Texas are flooding roads, downing trees and causing millions  of dollars of damage to property, and loss of lives. Police are increasingly frustrated as overstretsched utility crews may take another 15 minutes to rescue children trapped on a school bus by downed power lines.  Policeband radio reports that power has been cut to those powerlines and the children have ben resued. 

Reports of downed trees are flooding 911 call centers.  As the sun rises further, more reports of downed trees and structure damage are expected.
