A bill designed to reduce the number of firearms in the hands of American citizens has been introduced into the House of Representatives.
The Safer Neighborhoods Gun Buyback Act was reintroduced this week by Rep. Donald Payne Jr. (D-N.J.). The bill would allow the federal government to purchase firearms from civilians.
“Although no one piece of legislation will eliminate all gun violence, this bill will get guns off the streets and keep them out of the hands of people who wish to cause harm,” Payne said. “If we can get one gun off the street, if we can save one life, then we have to take action.”
As part of the deal, the government would purchase guns from gun owners at 25% over market value of the firearms.

This bill joins a new bill introduced by Democrats that would ban certain types of semi-automatic firearms from manufacture and sale in the United States.
Of course, with the GOP having a majority in both houses of Congress it seems unlikely this bill, or any other gun control bill, will actually go anywhere. However, the bill could be an indicator of what Democrats are planning should they win back control of Congress in 2016.
Gun owners would be paid to sell their firearms to the federal government under new legislation from Democrats.
The Safer Neighborhoods Gun Buyback Act, which was reintroduced this week by Rep. Donald Payne Jr. (D-N.J.), is the latest attempt by Democrats to address gun violence. The bill has 22 co-sponsors.

The voluntary gun buyback proposal resembles legislation offered by earlier this year by Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.) that sought to pay gun owners to turn over assault weapons to the federal government.
Both pieces of legislation are virtually certain to go nowhere in the Republican-controlled Congress.
As part of Payne’s $360 million gun buyback initiative, the Justice Department would pay gun owners a premium of 25 percent more than the market value of their firearms.
Gun owners could turn over their firearms to state and local governments as well as certain gun dealers.
In return, the gun owners would receive a debit card they could use to purchase anything other than more guns and ammunition.
The Justice Department would destroy the guns and recycle the parts.

Anyone stupid enough to give up their guns would not be any help anyway and will be easy victims for the bad guys when the SHTF so they will be the first to go. If they are that stupid, good riddance.

There wasn’t any ‘outright ban’ in Australia. We still own firearms. In fact, there are more registerd firearms and owners here now than there was at the time of the buy back. They only banned semi auto rifles in the few states where they were still legal.
No gun owner in their right mind right now will sell their guns. I think we have all pretty much figured out what is going on and most of us will fight to the death. If the Govt gives you $50.00 (standard lib buyback rate) there are plenty of People that will give you $55.00 in cash.

We in the UK handed our guns in and now the police use tazar guns as if we are cattle and if you look at the USA then you need to stop the police who shot dead 1010 people last year because that number would soon rise to 5000 a year if they know that no one can defend themselves.
