(Before It's News)

Pinterest has had some massive growth earlier this year and even now if the growth has plateaued a bit, the social network is the third largest social network in the US with some 20 million unique visitors, according to a comScore report from March. This was achieved even though Pinterest did not have any mobile apps except for the iPhone. Now, the social network has launched its official apps for Android and iPad thus bringing the service closer to the top mobile platforms in the world. This can only boost their usage.

The apps can be accessed at apps.pinterest.com and free to download. I went and checked out the Android app out. It does look very gorgeous and doesn’t look like a port. It is a native client and has a very good user interface. Pinterest can be challenging on the mobile because of the lowered real estate the smartphone offers but with popular large screen phones like Samsung Galaxy S3 and HTC One X, this won’t be much of an issue. The app is designed for all Android phones and is pretty fast. The functions and features remain the same as the desktop service.

The launch of the app on the iPad is huge for the company as it is supposed to be the best Pinterest experience yet. Screenshots shows that the iPad app simple looks gorgeous. Those folks over at Pinterest take design very seriously and it is good thing. It is a joy to use to app and it looks very visually appealing.

The mobile Pinterest experience is a good one and can only make it more easier to pin things from wherever you want. The company says in its blogpost that it wants people to not just stick to online but go out and enjoy the offline world. The mobile apps are a step in that direction. The company recently dropped its invite-only access in favor of a free for all thing. Seems Pinterest has finally come of age. However, the adoption in India has been sort of lukewarm. People are more involved with just  Facebook and Twitter. However, there is a chance that this may change soon.
