Paytm Gives Its iOS Application A Design Makeover; Others In the Pipeline

(Before It's News)

Paytm, the company engaged in offering online recharge options for utilities, has given its iOS application a design overhaul. Paytm offers easy recharge of Mobiles, DTH & Wireless Data cards. It currently has applications that work on Android, Blackberry & even on budget friendly Java Based Nokia phones.

While updating the iOS applications, many new & customer-centric improvements have been made.

  • The application now lists out the choice for recharge in a horizontal tab-like fashion on the launch page itself, making it more convenient.  This interface helps clearly segregate the different types of recharges & we found it to be super-easy to use.

  • The payment medium page is also similarly demarcated (Net Banking / Debit Card / Credit Card). While the Net Banking still relies on the older technique of manually filling in details, the other two have the option of saving card information & auto-filling it. A similar technique was recently adopted by Online Travel Agent (OTA) MakeMyTrip to cut precious minutes & save money for frequent travelers.

  • Another interesting feature worthy of mention is the inclusion of ‘Coupons’ tab which presents various offers & discount vouchers from popular sites.

  • This makes discovering items for purchase much more interesting & one can easily apply the vouchers for instant purchase & rebate too!

Paytm is not the only company in this field. Competitors like Spice Digital & Rechargeitnow have made some significant progress. While Paytm managed to score a million users last year, Rechargeitnow has crossed double that amount. Additionally, telecom companies like Airtel too have entered this sphere.

Hence, acquisition of customers & retaining them is going to be defined by the level of ease of use & convenience with which customers can transact using their mobile phones. While Paytm has come out with quite a few improvements & even has a mobile site in case the application fails to deliver, it will be up to the customers & the amount of tie-ups that will define the application’s success.

What do you think of the revamp? Do you feel anything more can be added?
