After a long wait, Microsoft has finally unveiled its flagship smartphones in global market, Lumia 950 and Lumia 950XL. The company unveiled its first-ever Windows 10 mobile based devices alongside the long-rumored Surface Pro 4, Microsoft Band 2 and the Surface Book. Lumia 950 and 950XL will hit the shelves in November, and will start from $549 (approximately Rs. 35,800), and $649 (approximately Rs. 42,300). Budget smartphone Lumia 550 with 4.7-inch HD display was also announced at the event.
As for specs, Microsoft Lumia 950 features a 5.2-inch quad-HD display with a whopping pixel density of 564ppi. It powers up by a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 chipset clocked at 1.8GHz coupled with 3GB of RAM. The built-in storage packed with the phone is 32GB is further expandable up to 200GB through micro-SD card. Its elder sibling, Lumia 950XL, on the other side, boasts a 5.7-inch Quad-HD display powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 810 SoC coupled with 3GB of RAM. It clocks at a frequency of 2GHz and promises buttery smooth performance while handling games and apps. The storage packed with this phone is same as Lumia 950.
For photography enthusiasts, both Microsoft Lumia 950 and 950XL feature a 20-megapixel PureView rear and 5-megapixel front-facing shooter. The rear camera of both phones is enriched with a bunch of features including Optical Image Stabilization, 4k video recording, f/1.9 aperture, while the front-facing sensor is equipped with wide-angle lens, f/2.4 aperture, and full-HD video recording capabilities.
Along with basic specs, both phones features adaptive antenna technology. It enhances connectivity of the phone and gives best reception without any glitches or technical errors. Along with basic connectivity features, the two new phones also pack USB Type-C standard which, according to the company, has been equipped with built-in fast charging technology that can charge the phone up to 50% within 30 minutes. The removable battery of Microsoft Lumia 950 features a capacity of 3000mAh, while Lumia 950XL houses a slightly bigger 3,340mAh battery.
As an added element, Microsoft has also included Windows Hello biometric technology which, unlocks the device automatically by just looking at the user’s face. Both phones feature built-in wireless charging, and will come in traditional Black and White color options.
