Chinese smartphone maker Umi has unveiled a new budget phone with a tempting set of hardware and software specs. Dubbed as Umi Flair, the new Android 5.1-based smartphone comes at a price tag of $99, which is roughly Rs. 6,500 in Indian currency. It’s already hitting the shelves via third-party online retailers, but as of now, there is no word on the availability of this phone in other markets.
Taking about specs, the dual-SIM based Umi Fair brings the power of Android Lollipop, and boasts a prolific 5-inch HD IPS display, with a decent pixel density of 295ppi. It powers up by a 64-bit MediaTek MT6735 chip with four cores clocked at 1.0GHz, coupled with Mali-T720 GPU and 1GB of RAM. The on-board equipped with this phone is 8GB, and support for expansion is up to a whopping 64GB via micro-SD card. However, the point is, there is no dedicated microSD card as the Second SIM card is a hybrid slot that can be used for both purposes ie, holding a SIM or a microSD card.
The camera setup of the new budget phone is also pretty impressive. According to the official website, Umi Fair features a 13-megapixel rear and a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter. The main camera is enriched with a Sony IMX164 sensor, dual-Tone flash, blue glass filter, and f/2.2 aperture, while the secondary camera delivers superb selfies with the same f/2.2 aperture.
Added to this, right below the rear camera, comes the biggest surprise, a military-grade fingerprint scanner. According to the company, the new fingerprint sensor in Umi Fair has self-learning capabilities and can give 99% accurate results. It claims that the sensor can recognize a fingerprint in just 0.32 seconds.
The Connectivity options on this phone include Wi-Fi, 3G, 4G LTE, GPRS/EDGE, Bluetooth, A-GPS, and Micro-USB 2.0. It comes with a bunch of sensors, and is ideally backed by a 2000mAh battery. The battery of this handset is rated to give up to 170 hours of Standby time, 10.5 hours of screen-time, and 6.8 hours of 4G browsing with extreme download and upload speeds.
Umi Fair is also equipped with a slew of sensors (ambient light sensor, accelerometer, proximity sensor), and is barely 8.4mm thick and 120 grams. It will be hitting the shelves in Black and White color options.
