Aegis Media Buys Communicate 2 To Augment Market Position

Aegis Media, a significant player in the Digital Communications sphere has announced acquisition of performance marketing and search agency, Communicate 2. The company will be merged into Aegis’ iProspect, and the new entity will be called iProspectCommunicate2.

If Aegis already has a strong presence in the search & performance marketing segment why did it buy Communicate 2? Inorganic expansion is the new tool that is helping companies grow at a fast pace without putting strenuous efforts. Money power is helping such firms achieve growth milestones which otherwise would have taken many years to accomplish. Communicate 2 boasts of such illustrious customers like Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Cleartrip, ICICI Lombard and HDFC Bank. Apart from these Indian customers, the company also offers its services internationally to Travelocity, Aviva Insurance and American Express.

Digital Media has become a huge contributing factor to the communication campaigns launched by brands. Managing the entire process is a very uphill task & hence requires the help of professionals to orchestrate the show. Companies like Pinstrom & Lintas have always had an early footing in this game. However, this take-over could change the market dynamics.

The progress towards the acquisition was made way back in 2008 when Aegis had bought a small stake in Communicate 2 in order to add search engine marketing capability to its media planning arm Carat & launch Isobar as a digital marketing solution for the Indian market. With Search Engine Marketing set to achieve a 100% Year on Year (YoY) growth & cross market potential of US$ 225 Million, we can only imagine what other mergers or buy-out plans are brewing.
