30 June, 2015 - Dialogue Group CEO Perry Offer yesterday told a gathering of leading service providers – representing some 200 operators across 40 countries – that the A2P SMS market was hotter than at any time in its history. He was addressing the audience at the highly influential Global Carrier Community Meeting (GCCM) in Berlin, where he highlighted the latest trends for growth in the A2P messaging market the enormous opportunity this brings Mobile Operators globally and how protecting the network from A2P fraud is more critical to manage now than ever.
Offer, whose company is one of the longest established international A2P SMS messaging companies in the world – approaching its 21st anniversary – said that A2P SMS has now gone way beyond being a marketing tool and new areas such as real-time authentication, time sensitive messages, plus other innovative new services, are heralding a new era for SMS messaging. This is why 100% on-net message delivery is essential, to provide a high quality and reliable service to deliver these time-sensitive, mission critical messages on time, every time.
Offer warned: “Revenues are set to grow enormously, but the key to making A2P SMS a success is to ensure that the network bypass is kept to a minimum to stop fraudulent activity and protect the handset subscribers from spam and unwanted messages. In turn, this will give operators more control over their network, create much-needed new sustainable revenues and enhance customer confidence.
Since Dialogue led the world with its call for 100% on-net A2P messaging last October, Offer said that he has been encouraged by the response, although much still needs to be done as A2P SMS is set to reach 2.19 trillion messages by year by 2018, and it will be the earlier adopters who will emerge as the real revenue winners.
