Lenovo’s web based smartphone brand, Zuk has introduced its first high-end smartphone in the Chinese market, Z1 at CNY 1,799 (roughly Rs. 18,250). The new smartphone features an impressive set of specs, and will be hitting the shelves from August 18, 2015.
Zuk, Lenovo’s latest online-only brand has been designed to take on Xiaomi’s growing domination in the Chinese market. Xiaomi has been launching some terrific budget and mid-range smartphones, and its performance in the Chinese market recently moved to a whole new level by drawing Apple one step back.
The new Zuk Z1 flaunts a great look from all angles, features a metal frame on the sides, and highlights no sign whatsoever of Lenovo. It ships with Zuk Logo on the rear and appears like a perfect smartphone to take on leading flagships rolling in the market. While the launch of this online-only brand outside China has not been detailed, most of us expect to see Zuk entering other markets real soon.
The powerful Zuk Z1 sports a 5.5-inch full-HD display, and is powered by the outdated Snapdragon 801 chipset clocked at 2.5GHz, clubbed with 3 gigs of RAM and Adreno 330GPU. It runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop straight out-of-the box, and features a Samsung-like physical home button which embeds a fingerprint sensor for added biometric security. The rear camera of this device is a 13-megapixel shooter with Sony IMX214 sensor and optical image stabilization technology, and front-facing camera is a superb 8-megapixel snapper. It packs 64 gigs of on-board storage and holds sufficient room to keep a massive selection of app data and media files.
On the connectivity front, the dual-sim based Zuk Z1 stays right on the mark, and comes with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, A-GPS, GPRS/EDGE, 3G HSPA+, 4G LTE, and USB Type-C 3.0 options. It gives smooth browsing experience, features a bunch of sensors (accelerometer, proximity, magnetometer), and is perfectly backed by a long-lasting 4100mAh battery. The battery of this device looks pretty hefty, but gives sufficient backup to cater standard requirements with complete ease.
The new Zuk Z1 measures 155.7×77.3×8.9mm, weighs around 175 grams, and will be hitting the shelves in White and Grey color options. With an effective combination of top-notch specs and affordable pricing, this device will be going straight against Xiaomi and other leading smartphone manufacturers.
